OUR YOUNG PEOPLE, THEIR LOVED ONES, THEIR CARERS & THEIR PROTECTORS

There’s no denying young trans people are at the centre of transphobic bullies’ hypocrisy. The banning of puberty blockers for trans kids under the guise of being unsafe, whilst still available for cisgender kids going through early puberty, is proof enough.

But don’t let the media fool you. Despite the cruelty of centring trans youth at the heart of the UK’s culture wars, trans kids are busy being kids. They’re joining art clubs, staging their own protests, coming to Pride rallies (with or without their families, just like other teenagers) and playing with friends just like them.

What the UK media would have us forget, is that transphobia doesn’t only affect trans kids. It affects their school mates, their families, their carers, their teachers, their neighbours…

The beauty of the overwhelming number of heartwarming objects representing profoundly meaningful moments where families show their unequivocable support for trans siblings and children provides ample real-life evidence of just how many of us care about deeply about the wellbeing of trans children.

They are the future of gender liberation for us all.
