Tag: I wrote this speech for Trans Day of Remembrance in 2023. I lost my first trans friend the year before in 2022, to the Singaporean military, the icon of a state's apparatus of violence. And like many others, I was deeply in shock at the passings of Brianna Ghey and Eden Knight that year. However, my emphasis was on hope, helping each other, doing those who have departed proud, and love. I believed, and still do, that trans resilience and power can be practiced daily by just existing authentically.
