Tag This dress was bought online before I got a name change and the store asked if it was a gift for someone and I said yes. When I got it, it said: "Dear Owl, beceuse you're worth it Yours always, Valur."

- Black dress with pink flowers and tag. Short black lined dress & tag; dress outer made of polyester, black with pink, green shades flower pattern, full skirt with fitted bodice, sleeveless with open back to bodice, elasticated waist across back. Skirt hem overstitched. Lining; black plain cotton material, intact. Garment very worn & in poor condition, some shredding of outer layer on right hand side of skirt near hem approx. 200mm x 140mm, also on centre back of skirt near hem approx. 35mm area. Both shoulder straps have split stitching across seam to bodice at back. Side right bodice seam is split approx. 45mm length.

Tag I wore this shirt to give a talk I wrote with the same title: 'Genitals do not equal gender.' I wrote that piece an impassioned ally, or so I thought. Whilst practising the talk with my husbandm he paused me and asked: 'is this your coming-out speech?'. I recall feeling a jolt of muddled emotions, relief, shame, joy - 'Yeah' I said, 'I think it is!' That's how I came out to my husband as trans. [handdrawn cartoon heart with the letter "H" inside]
