Trans Pride Collective

Trans people are everywhere — but how do you find them and document their history beyond London and Brighton? Follow the placards. As the Museum of Transology approached its tenth anniversary, we discovered a quiet revolution already underway: fifteen Trans Pride festivals, thriving across the UK and Ireland — each rooted in its own local culture, politics and identity. We visited them. We collected their stories, their placards, their posters. Then we brought their organisers together for the first time. From that weekend, the Trans Pride Collective was born. Today, twenty-six Trans Pride events form a living network — sharing knowledge, documenting history, and ensuring trans stories are told in trans voices. By embedding heritage into organising from the start, we're building something the movement can never lose: a collective that is always, unapologetically, by us and for us.

Trans Pride Collective Assembly

In the spring of 2024, representatives from Trans Pride organisations across the UK and Ireland travelled to London — by train, plane, bus and car share — most of them meeting each other for the very first time. We gathered at the Triangle LGBTIQA+ cultural centre, sang tranny-oke, heard trans elders speak, shared tea and cake, and started an inevitable WhatsApp group.
