QYAC: What Was, What Is, What Could Be
Join us for the exhibition opening of What Was, What Is, What Could Be, presented as part of Queer Youth Art Collective at Camberwell Space.
Camberwell Space is pleased to present What Was, What Is, What Could Be, an exhibition by Queer Youth Art Collective (QYAC), marking the culmination of their three-month residency.
Queer Youth Art Collective is the UK’s only national LGBTQIA+ youth service dedicated to the arts. During the residency, artists aged 18–28 were selected through an open call and supported through workshops, mentorship and studio development at Camberwell College of Arts.
The exhibition brings together work by the resident artists alongside an archive celebrating seven years of QYAC, curated in partnership with the Museum of Transology (MoT). The archive will then move to Bishopsgate Institute following the show. Also on display is The Hanging Archive, a newly commissioned textile work co-produced with QYAC participants, alumni and partner LGBTQ+ youth groups across the UK.
In the words of QYAC - ‘We refuse censorship or judgement. In doing so we make more art possible’.
With generous support from Arts Council England, David Family Foundation, UAL and Awards for All.
