Queer and Now

Exhibition 2018 - Tate Britain

Queer & Now Programme

Tate Britain’s exhibition in 2017, Queer British Art (1861-1967) looked through a queer lens at a century of art prior to the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales. But the history of art doesn’t only teach us about the past, it can also make us think about the kind of future we want to paint.

For Queer and Now 2018, interlocking LGBTIQ+ communities come together to actively shape a space in amongst Tate Britain’s collection. Central to this is the launch of the Queer Walk Through British Art – artworks selected from the current display by both artists and members of the community, deliberately placing equal value on expertise and interpretation.
